Cubebot Challenge

Ugh. I don't know if I made the deadline. I hope so, fingers crossed.
But since I slaved to finish the roombox in time for this, then spent all day installing this scene I'll show you some pictures of what I did with the micro cubebots from Call of the Small's Cubebot Challenge.

These things are versatile. Especially as furniture:

And the zoom out:

The art? Oh yeah. What would a home be without a cheesy family photo mural?
These guys had a session at Picture People. With the new little one. Awww...
(These aren't so easy to manipulate into human poses being as *ahem* boxy as they are)

Don't judge a bad hair day unless you've never had one.

I had fun, I hope I submitted on time and it gets counted. (The attachments took a million years to load, and I hit 'send' at exactly midnight. I know because that's when I turn into a pumpkin.)
If not, it'll be another notch in my "I'm a Giant" belt.

Time to go clean up from the 'challenge cyclone'.

  1. OMG! You are awesome. You nailed all of the picture people poses. I wish our local store had that cool chevron backdrop and Le Corbusier club chair.
I love the hair! The Cubebot tables and chairs are pretty kick a$$. Very creative. Love the patio too! I'm really wanting grey roof tiles now. LOVE IT ALL!!!

    1. Thanks! I thought the Corbusier would work great with the bots, and by looking at the flickr page... great minds think alike :)
I'm glad you love the portraits! They're one of my favorite parts. The hair was a bit of creative license, but it gets the point across. I wish I'd had enough time to finish the credenza underneath, but real life sucked me in...

  2. You photos made it to the Flickr page, so I'm guessing that you got your entry in just it time. Which is good news because this is an awesome scene.

And I love your Cubebot family. XD

    1. Yes, thanks. Barely made it! Glad you like the fam, they weren't so cooperative for the shoot.
I was really impressed with your double bed scene! Beautifully done!

    1. I'm glad they're as prominent as I'd hoped! They kill me, I laugh audibly when I go through them. Ridiculous.

      Thanks!!

    1. Thanks, Neen! The patio is exactly as I'd like it even if this wasn't a challenge. The mason jar lights are a new creation. They really add to the rustic feel I prefer. I just need a hammock and a good book!

  7. Total Cack, I was sure yours would be amusing, no matter how serious your blog entries are, the TradeMark Meagan funnies still come through.

    Did you fake that baby?

I'm not sure I would like to be a chair and have someone use me for a seat... but they do look like they were made for it!

    1. I'm glad you can still sense personality from me at that ungodly hour :)

Yep, the baby's a fake. I made it out of scrapwood, painted it metallic gold, and wrapped it in a leftover felt scrap.

I do love the chevron in the back of the chairs, I had a fireplace that played on that theme in the works, but couldn't manage my time well enough to finish it. Which is why my 'credenza' looks like a bench. Oh, well!

  8. Excellent! I love the roombox and it certainly will be great for many settings. Maybe I'm not seeing it correctly but is the ceiling light not actually lit? And why the need for the long chain when there are SO many electrical outlets in the ceiling? It is an amazing scene and I hope you were in time.

    1. Thanks! You are correct, the ceiling pendant isn't lit. I spent too much time installing said ceiling outlets that there wasn't time to wire that lamp. I know, a non working light is pretty against my religion, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
And the chain is so long because this fixture is very temporary, and I only have 2 pieces of that beautiful brass chain. I didn't want to cut it for the sake of a decoy fixture. Keen observation, and valid questions! There, mysteries explained :)
